A new cameraphone from ASUS!

Samsung was the one that tried to make smartphones with bulky zoom lenses work, but it seems like ASUS is the company that would actually make them practical, thanks to their recently announced Zenfone Zoom. The Zenfone Zoom packs a 3x optical zoom camera that doesn’t add too much bulk, making it a more sensible device to bring along with you.

The Zenfone Zoom’s 3x optical zoom lens is backed up by a 13-megapixel sensor with OIS, along with a f/2.0 aperture and a laser autofocus system. The Zenfone Zoom has the ability to go full manual if you’re up for it.

Unfortunately ASUS has not shared other specs, like the processor that powers this new cameraphone (even money it’s their strategic partner Intel again) though it seems that the company has managed to get the right compromise between the camera and phone part of the Zenfone Zoom right, as it’s no bulkier than your average smartphone. ASUS is putting the release date of the Zenfone Zoom at Q2 of this year, priced at $399 or Php 17976.
