Beats Debut Studio Buds with ANC

Beats expands its portfolio of audio products with the Studio Buds TWS earbuds. Despite being under Apple for the past few years, the Studio Buds differ themselves completely from Apple’s ANC-sporting AirPods Pro.

Having a stem-free earbuds form factor, the Studio Buds come with ANC that filters background noise. It also has transparency mode to make you aware of your surroundings. Powering them are 8.2mm drivers which they claim can deliver “outstanding stereo separation and low harmonic distortion across the frequency curve so you hear every note.”

Unlike the AirPods, the Studio Buds support one-touch pairing for both Android and iOS devices, making them more universal compared to their Apple siblings. For customization and firmware updates, you will need the Beats app for Android devices, while you can do everything within the OS itself if you are using them with and iOS device. They also support voice assistants—regardless if you are using Siri or Google Assistant. For the latter, you will need to use the Beats app to enable it.

Since they don’t come with a W1 or H1 chip, the Studio Buds will not support Apple Music’s spatial audio, though they come with an IPx4 rating that should make them good enough for use with workouts.

As for battery life, Beats claims that they can last for up to 5 hours with ANC on and up to 8 hours with ANC turned off. With the charging case, the Studio Buds can last for up to 24 hours. As for charging, they top up via USB-C and support fast charging—a 5-minute top-up can give you an hour of use.

Beats Studio Buds Price

The Studio Buds is priced at $150(~Php 7.2k) in the US, and will be available on June 24. There’s no word yet if the Studio Buds are coming to the Philippines.
