BlackBerry 7 Philippines Event
BlackBerry unveiled the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9860, and Curve 9360 tonight at an event at the Ayala Museum. The venue was packed with the crowd a mix of reporters, bloggers, BlackBerry fans, and celebrities. The two main presenters were top executives from Research In Motion (RIM): VP for South Asia, Hastings Singh and Philippines Country Manager, Ray Gillenwater.
The event started with the host, Bianca Valerio, warming up the crowd with some jokes and pleasantries. She then introduced Hastings Singh who gave a quick presentation about RIM and BlackBerry. He emphasized in his presentation that RIM knows how big the market is in the Philippines and that the new line-up of BlackBerry smartphones will be able to address the needs of the Filipino smartphone user. He then introduced Ray Gillenwater, RIM Country Manager for the Philippines.
Gillenwater discussed the highlights and features of the new smartphones. He also announced the official launch of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in the Philippines this coming October 7 with an SRP of Php31,690. He presented the BlackBerry Torch 9860 and the BlackBerry Curve 9360 but he said that there are no prices yet or launch dates for the two smartphones.
Singh and Valerio then joined him on stage and they officially presented the units to the crowd. Several demo phones were stationed at one side of the room.
