Since the Xiaomi 12 Pro, we’ve been amazed at how the flagship phone managed to squeeze in three 50-megapixel cameras in the back–all offering stellar performance. Xiaomi has taken things up a notch with the 13 Ultra, as it boasts FOUR 50-megapixel cameras–with one of them being a 1-inch IMX989 sensor that has a variable aperture that ranges between f/1.9 to 4.0.
The other three cameras make use of an IMX858 sensor, and have a bright aperture opening: f/1.8 for the ultra-wide camera, f/1.8 for the 3.2x short telephoto camera, and f/3.0 for the long telephoto camera. The 13 UItra camera setup gives it a 35mm focal length equivalent range of 12mm to 120mm–or roughly a 10x zoom range.
To make good use of all those cameras, the 13 Ultra supports 14-bit RAW that is supported natively by Photoshop and Lightroom, along with 10-bit LOG for video recording. The main camera makes use of an 8P lens design with Leica’s Summicron tech and a high-stability lens coating to protect it from the elements.
Available in three colors, all variants come with a leather back panel that Xiaomi calls a “Second-gen nano-tech material” that’s resilient against wear and dirt–on top of having an anti-bacterial coating. The premium build also includes an IP68 rating as well.
Aside from an insane camera setup, the 13 Ultra’s other bragging right is its WQHD+ curved AMOLED panel, which is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and has a peak brightness of 2600nits–beating what the Find X6 Pro has to offer. For the first time in a Xiaomi device, the 13 Ultra is finally getting USB 3.2 Gen 1 with up to 5Gbps transfer speeds, which is essential for transferring the huge files inside it.
As a flagship device, you are getting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that’s paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. It also has a 5000mAh battery that supports 90w wired and 50w wireless charging–with Xiaomi’s Surge G1 and P2 chips helping in battery management.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is priced at CNY 5999(~Php 49.1k) for the 12GB/256GB model, CNY 6499(~Php 53.2k) for the 16GB/512GB, and CNY 7299(~Php 59.2k) for the top-end 16GB/1TB model. As previously mentioned, Xiaomi intends to make the 13 Ultra available globally, though details remain to be scant as to when it will be available outside of China.
