Canon has unveiled two new video-centric cameras for the global market. The first is the PowerShot V1, which we saw and tried a month ago at CP+ 2025, and the other is the EOS R50 V, which Canon redesigned the 2-year-old EOS R50 for video use.

As the name implies, the EOS R50 V is a redesigned EOS R50 that’s focused more on video. Aside from a dedicated live stream button and a record button on front of the camera, the EOS R50 V also has a tripod screw hole on the side for shooting vertical videos. This saves you the need to add a cage and keep it as compact as possible.
You still get the same 24-megapixel APS-C sensor that has Canon’s DIGIC X chip and Dual Pixel AF, and it can shoot at up to 4K60 (but with a crop). It differs from the regular EOS R50 as you get support for faster UHS-II SD cards, along with support for Canon Log 3 like the PowerShot V1, to help Cinema EOS users match footage. Together with the EOS R50 V, Canon is introducing a new kit lens with the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ, which is the first RF lens to have power zoom functionality.
The EOS R50 V is priced at $650(~Php 38k) for the body only and $850(~Php 50k) with the kit lens. Expect Canon to bring this to the Philippines, so stay tuned.
