Canon Officially Announces EOS R Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

The mirrorless wars just got bigger

Canon is going full steam with theĀ mirrorless segment by the launch of the EOS R Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera. Sporting a 30.3-megapixel sensor, the EOS R comes with Canon’s Dual Pixel Autofocus and can shoot up to 8 frames per second thanks to its Digic 8 processor. The compact camera has a base ISO range ofĀ 100 to 40000, with an extended ISO range of 50,Ā 51200, and 102400.

For its video capabilities, the EOS R can shoot 4K at 30FPS, Full HD at 60FPS, and HD at 120FPS inĀ All-I or IPBĀ digital compression. The EOS R also has Canon log for added flexibility in color grading.

Powering the EOS-R is an LP-E6N batteryā€”the same battery used in the 80D, 7D Mark II, 6D Mark II, and 5D Mark IVā€”that is rated for up to 540 shots with the screen on and Eco mode enabled. You get a single SDXC card slot, a USB 3.0 port, a USB-C HDMI port, and a 3.5mm jack.

Being the brand’s first full frame mirrorless camera, Canon is introducing the RF mount. To entice consumers, prosumers, and even professionals, Canon will be launching four RF mount lens together with the EOS R: a 50mm 1.2L USM, a 24-105mm F4L IS USM, a 24-70mm F2L USM, and a 35mm F/1.8 IS Macro STM. Those who have EF glass can use them on the EOS R with three adapters to choose from.

The EOS R and the RF24-105mm F4L IS USM lens will be available by late October, and is priced at $2,299(~Php 123.2k) for the body only, and $3,399(~Php 182.1k) with the 24-105mm lens.
