Like Fujifilm and Sony, Canon has been facing immense demand for its digital cameras—specifically the PowerShot G7x. The problem with the camera? Aside from dwindling supplies, the PowerShot G7x Mark III is already an old camera, launching back in 2019. Everyone is waiting for its successor, and Canon finally answers that with the all-new PowerShot V1.
With the new naming, the PowerShot V1 aims to replace the PowerShot G series with a focus on vlogging. Inside the PowerShot V1 is a new type 1.4sensor that has a 3:2 aspect ratio and has roughly the size or your typical Micro Four-Thirds sensor.
You get a DIGIC X processor and Dual Pixel Autofocus with eye AF for humans, cats, and dogs, making it great for both videos and photos. Speaking of photos, the PowerShot V1’s can do 15FPS and can output 14-bit RAW files, while the electronic shutter can do 30FPS and output 12-bit RAW files.
The PowerShot V1’s lens is a 16-50mm F/2.8-4.5 zoom lens with a built-in ND8 filter, and its capable of shooting 4K30 video using the entire sensor. It can also shoot at 4K60, but with a 1.4x crop that gives you a 24-70mm focal length range instead.
Being focused for video, the PowerShot V1 has an external cooling fan for long recording sessions, a headphone and microphone jack, a fully articulating touchscreen, and a multi-function hot shoe.
While you can’t buy the PowerShot V1 yet, Canon listed it for 148,500 Yen in Japan, or around Php 57.3k when converted.
