We unbox the Infinix Pure XL!

Last year when Cherry Mobile held their thanksgiving party for dealers and members of the press, they included a suprise review unit: the Flare HD. We’re fresh from said thanksgiving party for 2014 and right on cue, the good folks at Cherry handed us their newest octa-core smartphone, the Infinix Pure XL to review. So, as is our custom here in unbox, we’re going to check out what’s inside for you guys. Before we do that, let’s check out the specs:

Packaging and contents

The Infinix Pure XL comes in a black box with a carton sleeve over it. Both the carton sleeve and the box has the specs printed out on them in case you wanted to check out what the hardware is before buying it.

As far as accessories go, it’s the typical Cherry Mobile fare – headphones, USB cable and a charger, plus a nicer looking user manual and a information about Cherry Mobile’s Fun Club.

Initial Impressions: looks like a combination of the Flare 3 and the Omega Icon

When we first saw the Infinix Pure XL, it definitely looked liked the lovechild of the Flare 3 and the Omega Icon. The Infinix Pure XL has the same rounded back and corners of the Flare 3, and the metallic looking accents on the side like the Omega Icon.

The sides and corners of the Infinix Pure XL are rounded to facilitate a more comfortable grip along with a matte finish. The device feels quite hefty, which made us believe the battery was already inside the device when we got it, but that’s not the case, of course.

The volume rocker is on the left side, while the power button is on the right. Both the volume rocker and power button are slightly raised from the side, which makes them easier to press when you’re not looking. Both the 3.5mm jack and USB port are located on the top of the device.

Internally, the 1.4GHz octa-core processor is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, along with a big 2600mAh battery. We’re no strangers to the current hardware configuration on the Infinix Pure XL, as we’ve seen it before in Cherry Mobile’s other octa-core devices like the Pulse. So we weren’t surprised when the Infinix Pure XL managed to pull in a rather respectable benchmarks in both AnTuTu and Geekbench.

Cherry Mobile has priced the Infinix Pure XL at Php 6,999.
