Cherry Mobile Omega to sport Dual-Core Processor, 8MP Camera, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean?
As we reported earlier, Cherry Mobile teased three new handsets for December. One of them, the Cherry Mobile Omega, sports a 5.3-inch and is rumored to have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. This was validated when Cherry Mobile posted another photo saying “Cherry Beans” which is an obvious play on Jelly Bean. We got really curious about this so we decided to dig deeper. Based on our research there’s a high probability that the Cherry Mobile Omega is actually a rebranded Zopo ZP900 smartphone (from China). Check out the specs of this “Phablet” below.
Zopo ZP900 Leader Spec Sheet
- 1GHZ MTK MT6577 dual core Cortex-A9
- POWER VR SGX531T GPU
- 1GB RAM
- 4GB Internal Storage, Expandable to 32GB via microSD Card
- 5.3-inch multi-touch QHD IPS screen
- 8.0-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED Flash
- 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- Dual SIM card dual standby, WCDMA/GSM+GMS network
- 3G/WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS Radios
Not bad right? Those are pretty sweet specs! The 1GB Ram will definitely make it much smoother. I’m not sure though if Cherry Mobile can still keep this below Php10,000. Let’s see.

Unboxing Video on YouTube
Here’s a video we found on YouTube of GizChina unboxing the handset. It’s in english so you guys will understand it, hehe.
This is definitely an interesting development. If Cherry Mobile ships this with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box it will be a serious alternative to the best selling Galaxy Note. We’ll report on this as we get more details in the coming weeks ahead.
