Cherry Mobile Gearing Up to Launch the NFC-enabled Rave 2.0

Cherry Mobile started to officially tease and promote the Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0 yesterday on their Facebook Page. The Rave 2.0 caught our attention when it was initially leaked because it’s the first local branded smartphone to support NFC (Near Field Communications) technology. NFC allows you to transfer data by just tapping two devices together. You can use it to transfer files between two NFC-enabled devices or you can use it to activate a bluetooth connection between your phone and external accessories so you can stream your music.

What we find nice is that Cherry Mobile is bundling an NFC-enabled speakers to go with the Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0. At least this will fully allow consumers to experience and enjoy NFC without having to buy more accessories.

Here’s a quick look at the partial specifications of the Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0:

Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0 Partial Spec Sheet

  • 1.2GHz Quad-core Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB Internal Storage, expandable via MicroSD Card
  • 5.3-inches IPS qHD (960 x 548), 208 pixels per inch
  • 12.0-megapixels primary camera with LED Flash
  • 2.0-megapixels secondary camera
  • 3G, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS/aGPS, NFC
  • Android Jelly Bean
  • SRP: Php8,999

With a 5.3-inch display, the Rave 2.0 crosses over to the phablet category. That’s perfectly okay though since you can use the speakers to stream audio for music or videos. Hopefully they also come out with a Rave 2.0 case that props it upwards when watching videos.

We’ll try to get our hands on the Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0 soon!
