KitKat update is live guys!
Cherry Mobile promised that it would send an OTA update for KitKat to Cosmos Z2 owners today, and we’re happy to confirm that the brand has delivered on that promise. The Cosmos Z2 that we have in Unbox HQ downloaded and applied the update over our Wi-Fi connection without any issues, and now our Cosmos Z2 has delicious Android 4.4.2. The OTA update makes Cherry Mobile the first local brand to send out an OTA for KitKat (that we know of).
We also noticed that Cherry Mobile removed the custom UI on the Cosmos Z2 with the update, opting instead for stock Android for the device. To update your phone, just go to the software update app in the app drawer and check for updates. If you haven’t updated your phone in a while, you will need to download two other updates before you get to the KitKat update.
Hopefully the update for the Cosmos Z2 is the start of a much bigger KitKat update for their other devices, and puts pressure on other manufacturers to send KitKat updates to their other devices as well.
