Cherry Mobile Thunder Unboxing and Initial Impressions

The Cherry Mobile Thunder is poised to be another best seller given the specifications and the aggressive price point. For just Php4,999 you get a dual-core, dual SIM, Android 4.0 ICS smartphone with a 4.5-inch screen. It measures just 9.9mm thin making it a slim and gorgeous piece of gadgetry. In all honesty I’m still amazed at how fast the prices of quality Androids have plummeted in the last few months. It started with the Cherry Mobile Flare and now we have the Thunder. Awesome.

Here’s a complete rundown of the specifications:

Cherry Mobile Thunder Video: Unboxing, Temple Run 2, and more

To kick things off, here’s the special unboxing video that we made for the Cherry Mobile Thunder. It shows the live unboxing followed by the powering on and finally a quick demo of Temple Run 2 running on the device. Hope you guys like it!

Initial Impressions: Very High Potential for a Budget Phone

What’s our take on the Cherry Mobile Thunder after playing with it for a few hours? In a sentence it’s a grown-up and more refined version of the Cherry Mobile Flare. The bigger 4.5-inch screen just makes it more pleasant to do social networking, browsing, watching movies, and even texting. The chasis is also more sleek, professional, and cool unlike the Flare which looked like a generic Android.

What we don’t understand though is all the fluff they put into the design of the 5-megapixel shooter at the back. The sensor looks huge, lol. Kinda reminds me of the Nokia Pureview 808.

When it came to the software and over-all performance, we were very satisfied. It felt much faster than the ill-fated Cruize. Truth be told I personally felt it was even smoother than the Android Jelly Bean touting Cherry Mobile Omega. We’ll know for sure though in the coming days as we use and abuse the Thunder.
