Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6 Can Handle More Drops than its Predecessor

Scratch resistance remains the same however

With more phones shifting to a glass and aluminum design, durability has been in the question given the fragile nature of glass. While Corning’s Gorilla Glass can handle drops of up to 1.6 meters (for Gorilla Glass 5), there’s still that chance of shattering it from an accidental drop.

As a response, Corning unveiled its next-generation glass with Gorilla Glass 6. Corning claims that the latest version can withstand up to 15 drops from a height of 1 meter, and is claimed to be twice as durable than Gorilla Glass 5. Gorilla Glass 6 is made with glass-backed phones in mind, giving brands peace of mind when it comes to durability.

Corning did not disclose its scratch resistance, so expect it to have the same scratch resistance as its predecessor.
