Could the Desire 8 be the breakthrough device that the fledgling mobile company needs?
It’s a little known fact that while hi-end, premium devices get all the attention, it’s usually the low and mid-range market that makes a mobile company successful. Just ask Samsung. HTC, the Taiwanese manufacturer that has always been known for their innovative, premium devices, have finally seen the light and have promised to make more affordable devices. The newly leaked Desire 8 may just be one of the many mid-range devices that the Taiwanese company will start producing. Originally discovered by Chinese site MyDrivers and confirmed by Engadget’s own Richard Lai, the Desire 8 combines HTC’s penchant for pretty smartphones with mid-range specs. It will supposedly have a 5.5-inch display of unspecified resolution, 13-megapixel camera and dual front facing speakers. Not much is known about the device, though we’re sure we’ll hear about it in the coming days now that MWC is just around the corner.
