DITO has formalized the launch of its Home WoWFi 5G Modem at a media event last October 18 at Ascott BGC. During the event, key tech experts explained what makes their 5G RedCap tech special as a “true 5G” network.
In a nutshell 5G RedCap (short for reduced capacity) is an evolution of 5G NR-Light, which is meant to offer lightweight 5G to deliver high capacity, maximum quality, and lower latency using a Standalone (SA) network compared to 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) networks that rely on existing 4G infrastructures.
DITO’s new modem is made possible with a partnership with HUAWEI, making them the first time to make 5G RedCap tech available to consumers. Aside from offering speeds of up to 100Mbps, the use of 5G RedCap means it can drive multiple IoT and smart home products at the same time without compromising on bandwidth.
Aside from the 5G modem having WiFi 6 connectivity, you also get 3 Ethernet ports and a RJ45 port for connecting your other devices at home.
“Our goal is to give them a life-changing home Wi-Fi that lets them live big and never lets them down, especially in this age of digitalization and technological advancements,” DITO Consumer Business Chief Revenue Officer Evelyn Jimenez said.Â
The DITO Home WoWFi 5G Modem starter kit is priced at Php 1,990 and comes with unlimited 5G data and 50GB 4G data for 30 days. You can purchase it at DITO e-Shop, DITO Experience Stores, Device Retail Partners, Sales Blitzes, and DITO official stores in Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok.
