DJI’s Osmo Mobile 2 Delivers Rock-steady Mobile Videos For Cheap

It’ll just be $129

It’s been a while since DJI has announced a follow-up to their well-regarded Osmo Mobile hand-held phone stabilizer, and it’s about time for a follow up. Their new DJI Osmo Mobile 2 delivers better control, a redesigned body and most important yet – a $129 price tag for a wider audience.

Of course cutting the price down means DJI had to swap out choice materials for more affordable ones, specifically the company replaced the previous iteration’s metal body with a high-strength modified nylon chassis. The material change may mean a less-premium looking device, but inside still beats the same three-axis gimbal for rock-steady videos.

There’s also a 1/4-inch mount so you can stick it onto a tripod if you need to, and a modified clamp can now swivel to accommodate both landscape and portrait shooting. The redesigned body though does away with removable batteries in favor for a sealed one, though DJI is promising that the new hand-held gimbal will last around 15 hours on a single charge.

DJI has also removed the trigger on the grip, and they’ve simplified the controls to make the product more appealing to people who have never tried one before. The second generation model will be hitting Apple Stores as an exclusive on January 23, and will get wider release in early Feb.
