First there was the Sharp Aquos Crystal and then there was the Xiaomi Mi Mix, there were two nearly bezel-less device with only a bit on its chin for an oddly placed camera. We were able to spend a bit of time with the Mi Mix and it truly was a sight to behold but, despite its beauty, it’s a device we rarely see. Was it a gimmick that simply didn’t fly? Well, another brand is banking that it wasn’t.
The phone you’re seeing above is from the Schenzen based brand, Elephone, and this is their nearly bezel-less S8. The phone has been placed on their online store, but has not yet been made available. The device will rock a Helio P10, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage all running on Android 7.0 out of the box. Here is its spec sheet according to its listing.

Another thing we can tell from the Elephone S8’s listing on their online store is that it will have a unibody build made of aluminum alloy. We have no idea as to why its rear camera array and its fingerprint scanner has been blurred out in the photo you see above, so we may expect to see some changes with the production models that go to market. As for the price, the Elephone S8 is listed at $399 or Php 19,821, which is a far cry from the asking price of the Xiaomi Mi Mix but then again, the Elephone has way less processing power under the hood; form over function, I suppose?
No word if the Elephone S8 will hit our shores officially, but we’ll definitely let you know if it does.
