After we spotted it last October, Samsung is bringing over both the LTE and 5G versions of the Galaxy A16 to the Philippines. Both models feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90hz refresh rate, along with a thinner body than their predecessor at 7.9mm and slimmer bezels.
Both models have an IP54 rating and a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel main shooter, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. You also get a 13-megapixel selfie shooter and a 5000mAh battery with 25w charging. The 4G model uses a Helio G99 processor, while the 5G version uses a Dimensity 6300 chip. Different processors aside, both Galaxy A16 variants will have 8GB RAM and 256GB storage in the Philippines
The main draw of the Galaxy A16 series is that Samsung promises 6 Android OS updates and 6 years of Samsung Security Maintenance Releases (SMR), making them budget phones that match iPhones in terms of software updates.
The Galaxy A16 is priced at Php 9,990 in the Philippines for the LTE version and Php 13,990 for the 5G version. The latter is available at select retailers, while the LTE version is slated to arrive on December 4.
