Google Confirms Pixel Fold, To Launch on May 10

After being in the rumor mill for several months, Google has finally acknowledged the existence of the Pixel Fold with a cheeky Star Wars reference. Just like how it unveiled its previous products, Google is tired of dealing with leakers and chose to reveal the Pixel Fold in its full glory–confirming practically everything we know about it–and confirming that it will launch at its I/O Conference on May 10.

To recap, the Pixel Fold has a vertical hinge that turns into a 7.6-inch tablet when unfolded. Its form factor is much closer to the Find N2 with its compact design (the outer display reportedly measures 5.8 inches) and rear camera setup reminiscent of the Pixel 6 series. Unlike other foldable devices that are on the market, the Pixel Fold has top and bottom bezels, with the former concealing the 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Pixel Fold will reportedly use a Tensor G2 processor and might have a larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold4 despite being more compact. It will reportedly be quite expensive at $1799 (Php 101.2k) according to early reports, but it remains to be seen if Google will give the Pixel Fold a lower and more competitive price come May 10 for its official launch. Aside from that, the other question would be availability–Pixel products have limited availability globally, and we don’t know if Google has plans to make its products available in more countries like the Philippines.
