Google Pixel 6 Pro Scores 135 in DxOMark

With the Pixel 6 series marking the first time Google went for an all-new set of cameras, DxOMark gave a score of 135 for the Pro version. This positions the Pixel 6 Pro two points below the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, along with being top 7 of the best smartphone cameras tested by DxOMark to date.

To recap, the Pixel 6 Pro has an all-new rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel f/1.85 ISOCELL GN1 main camera with OIS and laser autofocus, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and 48-megapixel f/3.5 telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and OIS.

In its review, DxOMark praised the Pixel 6 Pro for its excellent handling of detail in bright light and indoor images, along with accurate colors for both photo and video. The excellent camera performance is also evident with the telephoto camwra, while autofocus is fast and accurate and video stabilization is rock solid.

“The Google Pixel 6 Pro puts Google back into the group of manufacturers that is battling it out for the smartphone camera crown, making the device, at least from an imaging point of view, the best option for Android users in the US market by surpassing the competition from Samsung and Asus,” DxOMark said.

Against the iPhone 13 Pro, the Pixel 6 Pro is better in terms of exposure and texture, while the iPhone 13 Pro does things better in some scenarios like high-contrast scenes.

With all the improvements Google made in the camera department, DxOMark explains that the Pixel 6 Pro has a few shortcomings that include noise in indoor and low-light scenarios, limited FOV for the ultra-wide-angle camera, and unstable autofocus in video when shooting in low light.
