Now the second-best smartphone in DxOMark
DxOMark has reviewed the HONOR 30 Pro+‘s camera performance and gave Honor’s 2020 flagship an overall score of 125. That makes the HONOR 30 Pro+ better than the OPPO Find X2 Pro by a point and being behind the Huawei P40 Pro—the current DxOMark champ—by three points. The HONOR 30 Pro+ has the same 50-megapixel IMX700 main rear camera with the P40 Pro sans OIS, accompanied by an 8-megapixel f/3.4 periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and OIS and 16-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with PDAF.
Breaking down the scores, the HONOR 30 Pro+’s photo score of 136 makes it the second best-performing phone under the said category with its wide dynamic range and good target exposure across all lighting conditions. The main camera’s Octa PDAF system helped in giving the HONOR 30 Pro+ a stellar performance for autofocus.
Beyond the main camera, the HONOR 30 Pro+’s periscope camera is a performer, as its 5x optical zoom delivered consistent results and good texture/noise balance even at maximum zoom. DxOMark also lauded the HONOR 30 Pro+’s ultra-wide-angle camera for having well-controlled distortion and good dynamic range. As for videos, the HONOR 30 Pro+’s autofocus performance was impressive and produced video clips with good color reproduction, wide dynamic range, and accurate white balance.
