HONOR Wants to Combat Deepfake with AI

One of the major concerns regarding the use of AI is that bad actors make use of deepfakes that can affect one’s privacy and security and lure victims into scams of various forms. HONOR wants to combat deepfake content using AI, and it did so with its AI Deepfake Detection feature back in 2024 at MWC Shanghai.

With further refinements to the technology, as AI Deepfake Detection analyzes eye contact, lighting, image clarity, and video playback, HONOR is set to showcase it on the global stage at MWC 2025 in Barcelona. “With mobile devices storing vast amounts of personal data, AI Deepfake Detection is a powerful tool to combat fraud and privacy risks, enabling individuals and industries to thrive in a secure digital environment,” UNIDO Representative Marco Kamiya said.

HONOR’s AI Deepfake Detection has been trained through a large dataset of videos and images related to online scams, enabling it to detect anything suspicious within three seconds. Once it detects deepfake content, a risk warning is immediately issued to the user, deterring them from continued engagement with the potential scammers.

HONOR’s key AI innovation against deepfakes is important, as there was a  244% increase in incidents reported between 2023 and 2024, and many companies still lack protocols to address these risks, leaving individuals and businesses open to fraud and privacy breaches.
