Ahead of Samsung’s unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold7, HONOR unveiled the Magic V5, touting it as the slimmest foldable in the market at only 8.8mm thin when unfolded. When folded, it is 4.1mm thin (4.2mm for the Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown colorways). It is also lighter at just 217 grams for the Ivory White colorway (the rest of the colorways are 222 grams). Aside from being slimmer and lighter, it also has an improved IP58/59 rating. This means that the Magic V5 now comes with dust resistance.
The battery gets a big jump, with 6100mAh for 16GB/1TB model and 5820mAh for other variants–both using silicon-carbon tech. You also get support for 66w wired and 50w wireless charging. The cameras get an upgrade too: accompanying the 50-megapixel f/1,6 main camera is a new 50-megapixel f/2.0 ultrawide and a 1/2.0-inch 64-megapixel f/2.5 telephoto camera with a 70mm focal length equivalent.
For the displays, the cover screen is a 6.43-inch 120hz LTPO OLED with a 2376×1060 resolution, while the inner display is a 7.95-inch 120hz LTPO OLED with a 2352×2172 resolution. Both display have a peak brightness of 5000nits and 20-megapixel f/2.2 selfie cameras. Powering the Magic V5 is a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
The Magic V5 starts at CNY 8999(~Php 71k) for the 12GB/256GB variant, while the 16GB/512GB variant is priced at CNY 9999(~Php 79k). We expect the Magic V5 to be available in the Philippines soon since the Magic V3 made it to our shores last year.
