2025 Midrange Comparo: HONOR X9c vs POCO X7

2025 Midrange Comparo: HONOR X9c vs POCO X7

January is sure to be busy with launches, and HONOR and POCO are among the first to launch new phones in the Philippines with the X9c and X7. Both are midrange phones that have compelling specs to offer on paper–but how do they stack up against one another?

Here’s our quick guide in comparing the HONOR X9c and POCO X7 to see which one is more suited for you:

Design

Both phones have a curvy body because of their use of curved AMOLED panels, and both have a plastic back. While the X7 has an IP68 rating and the X9c only an IP65 rating, the latter boasts a metal internal frame to make it more durable against drops.

Aside from that the X9c is thinner at 8mm, and that’s a feat especially for the battery it packs inside. The X9c also earns points on the design aspect as its camera module is significantly smaller than that on the X7. Aside from that, the X9c uses the same type of glass for the camera module with the display, adding further to its durability cred.

Display

The X9c has a better display overall: aside from being physically bigger at 6.78 inches, you also get a higher peak brightness at 4000nits (vs 3000nits on the X7). In terms of durability, the X9c’s Asahi Dragon Tailstar two plus is roughly at par with the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 used on the X7, so expect both phones to have the same level of durability for the front glass.

Cameras

While the X9c gets upgraded this year with OIS on its 108-megapixel main shooter, the X7 has the advantage in this aspect with its use of a tried-and-tested 50-megapixel IMX882 on the main camera with OIS, along with a higher-resolution (but dated) 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. You also get a slightly higher resolution 20-megapixel selfie shooter on the X7 as well.

Despite differences in camera hardware, both the X7 and X9c can shoot 4K videos at 30FPS, and their inclusion of OIS helps in getting more stable handheld shots.

Internals

The X7 can be availed in an 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB configuration, while the X9c sticks only to a 12GB/256GB configuration. Despite having more variants to choose from, the X9c uses faster UFS 3.1 storage, giving you faster app load times compared to the UFS 2.2 used on the X7.

The X7 also has a more powerful Dimensity 7300 processor on board, but the X9c’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is still decent for a midrange option in 2025.

Battery

The X9c’s biggest advantage over the X7 is in the battery department, where you get a class-leading 6600mAh silicon-carbon battery–all while being thinner than the X7 as well. That’s almost 1500mAh more than what the X7 has to offer, giving you significantly longer battery life on the X9c.

Aside from a bigger battery, the X9c also has a better charging solution at 66w wired. The X7 does have decent wired charging speeds at 45w, which is expected to top up its 5110mAh cell to 100% in around an hour.

Price

While the X9c is priced at Php 16,999, the X7 is priced at Php 14,999 for the 8GB/256GB model and Php 16,999 for the 12GB/512GB model. The X7 is exclusive to Shopee, while the X9c has wider availability nationwide.

Overall, while the POCO X7 has more storage, better cameras, and a more powerful processor, the HONOR X9c counters that with faster storage, better display, better overall build, and a significantly larger battery that supports faster charging speeds.
