HTC Announces U23 Pro 5G Smartphone: Specs, Details

The HTC U23 Pro 5G, which had a partial specs leak earlier this month, has finally received an official announcement. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming smartphone.

At the front, the device comes with minimal bezels and a punch-hole design right at the center. We’re happy to be moving away from waterdrop notches that definitely reveal a device’s age or even cheapens its overall aesthetic. The display is a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution and speedy 120Hz refresh rate. This should make navigation of the UI feel instantaneous and fluid. No need to worry so much about drops since it comes with certified Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

The most notable features on its sides are the 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as the power button-mounted fingerprint scanner. Yes, HTC has opted for this instead of the in-display option, which other consumers actually prefer.

Moving on to the rear, the images and released video do show the surface to be matte. However, the exact material hasn’t been disclosed yet. What we can say is that it looks good, minimalistic, clean, and elegant. It would definitely pass off as an early-stage Google Nexus or OnePlus device.

Its onboard imaging system features a 108-megapixel main sensor, 8-megapixel ultrawide, 5-megapixel macro, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. While we’ve tested enough midrangers to know that the ultrawide will be mediocre and that depth sensor is just there for the sake of it, we’re somehow banking our hopes on that primary shooter.

In terms of processor specs, powering the HTC U23 Pro 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. It won’t win any flagship benchmarking battles but this is a tried-and-tested chipset that can handle almost everything you throw at it. It should be more than enough for social media, somewhat enthusiastic gaming, and all other purposes. This device will also come with either 8 or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Surprisingly, that’s expandable via a microSD card slot. Count us in!

Keeping the lights on is a 4,600 mAh battery pack that can be topped up with either 30W of wired charging or 15W wirelessly. It also has reverse wireless charging should your other devices need a quick boost of energy. You can also take it anywhere thanks to IP67 water and dust certification.

This upcoming HTC smartphone will run Android 13 out of the box and comes pre-installed with the VIVERSE app. That makes sense since HTC has been known as an innovator in the Virtual Reality space, especially with its VIVE lineup.

Here’s the official YouTube video.
