Huawei Debuts FreeBuds 4 with Improved ANC

It has been over a year since Huawei launched its first ANC TWS earbuds with the FreeBuds 3. Those looking for a true successor no longer need to wait, as Huawei made the FreeBuds 4 is now official in China. Interestingly, the FreeBuds 4 looks similar to their predecessor save for the new dark grey color option–they even use the same Kirin A1 processor used on the FreeBuds 3.

Despite using the same 14.3mm dynamic drivers and three microphones as its predecessor, the FreeBuds 4 has improved ANC, being able to filter up to 25db of noise (vs 15db)–and that’s despite using the same semi in-ear design. In addition to that, the FreeBuds 4 has more touch control functionality, offering three-level touch controls (vs single double-tap controls on the FreeBuds 3).

Bluetooth connectivity is better with Bluetooth 5.2, which gives the FreeBuds 4 new features like supporting simultaneous connection to two devices. There’s also a clear voice mode that calibrates the microphones for better voice pick-up in noisy environments with a 48kHz voice sampling rate. You also get low-latency mode as well, promising audio latency as low as 90ms to ensure accurate audio during gaming sessions.

Battery life is roughly the same, where you get up to 4 hours of playback time and up to 22 hours with the charging case. Like its predecessor, charging is done either via USB-C or via Qi wireless charging. With its fast charging tech, a 15-minute top-up will give you up to 2.5 hours of playback. To wrap it all up, the FreeBuds 4 has an IPx4 rating, making them suitable for sweaty workouts.

Huawei FreeBuds 4 Price

The FreeBuds 4 is priced at CNY 999(~Php 7.5k) and will be available in China starting June 6. There’s no word yet on global availability, though we expect Huawei to make the FreeBuds 4 available at our shores soon with roughly the same price.
