Huawei Has Shipped 100 Million Phones So Far This Year

It’s on track to beat their 2016 record of 140 million units

Huawei has been doing very, very well so far this 2017. The company has managed to ship around 100 million phones so far these past three quarters, which translates to a year-over-year increase of around 19%. At this rate, the company has a good chance of beating its 140 million unit record that it set back in 2016.

That exponential growth has managed to increase Huawei’s operating revenues by more than 30% from January to September, according to Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group.

Huawei’s exponential growth has allowed it to beat Apple in terms of shipments, coming behind Korean firm Samsung. Huawei is also the dominant force in its home country of China, beating out rivals OPPO, Xiaomi and Vivo.

Mr. Chengdong wants to keep the momentum going, and is planning more medium and high-end products to expand its product portfolio as well as expand its global market and upgrade its brand image.

“With over 10,000 employees around the world working on research and development, we expect to win more high-end customers, as there is more profit in high-end sector,” he said.
