Huawei Launches Nova 2i, AKA Maimang 6 In Malaysia

The dual-camera smartphone is a mid-range contender

Remember Huawei’s weirdly named Maimang 6 launched in China a few weeks ago? It’s popped up again, this time in Malaysia, bearing a new name: Nova 2i. The new phone has appeared on the manufacturer’s Malaysian online store Vmall, giving us a better look at the new mid-range smartphone.

The Nova 2i looks to be the first phone of Huawei to boast skinny side bezels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is armed with a Kirin 659 chipset, which is an octacore processor, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There’s two rear cameras, one being a 13-megapixel shooter and the other a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The front holds the 5.9-inch, full HD+ display with a 18:9 aspect ratio, plus a 13-megapixel front camera paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. This makes the Nova 2i one of the few phones that has a total of four cameras in its body. The phone runs on EMUI 5.1 and Android 7.0 Nougat.

The phone will be available in three colors: Blue, Black and Gold but Huawei has not revealed pricing for the new device.
