As we are waiting for the first Snapdragon 8 Elite phones to go official, HUAWEI has went ahead to launch its nova 13 series in China, powered by an unnamed Kirin chip and HarmonyOS 4.2.Â
The nova 13 Pro has a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel main shooter with a f/1.4-4.0 variable aperture, a 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera. Its body has an IP65 rating, and its display is a 6.76-inch 120hz LTPO OLED panel with a 300 Hz touch sampling rate, 2160 Hz PWM dimming, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Keeping the lights on is a 5000mAh battery that supports 100w charging, and it supports satellite connectivity in China. Configuration options include up to 1TB storage.
Moving to the vanilla nova 13, you get a 6.7-inch 120hz OLED screen with a 300 Hz touch sampling rate, 1440 Hz PWM dimming, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It downgrades to a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter—but everything else is similar with the Pro model.
Both are available in China, with the nova 13 starting at CNY 2,699 (~Php 22k) for the nova 13 and CNY 3,699 (~Php 31k) for the nova 13 Pro. There’s no word yet on availability outside of China, but expect at least the nova 13 to arrive at our shores soon.
