Huawei Rolls Out Android Oreo Beta to its Older Phones

Including their 2015 flagship phone

After rolling out Android Oreo for the P10, P10 Plus, Mate 9, and Mate 9 Pro, Huawei announced that they are rolling out Android Oreo beta to the following phones: Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, and Honor Play 6X.

What’s noteworthy with this announcement is that the Mate 8, which was launched in 2015, will be getting Android Oreo. This will be the phone’s second major update since it originally shipped with Android Marshmallow out of the box. Likewise, this will be the second major update for the P9, P9 Plus, Honor 8, and Honor V8.

As of this writing, the beta program is ongoing in China, and users will need to register to be part of the program. Aside from Android Oreo, the beta program will include EMUI 8.0 as well.
