Huawei’s Mate 20 Series Overtakes ASUS ROG Phone for Best Performing Phone In AnTuTu

The vanilla Mate 20 has the highest score among the three

It didn’t take that long before Huawei’s newly-announced Mate 20 series took over the crown of ASUS’ ROG phone for the best performing phone in AnTuTu. For its October 2018 Top 10, the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 X garnered the top three spots, with the vanilla Mate 20 scoring the highest at 311840.

The Kirin 980 processor played a major factor for all three Mate 20 variants, as its 7nm process translates to a more powerful-yet-efficient processor.

If you are wondering why the Mate 20 scored higher than the Mate 20 Pro, it has to do something with the display. As what Revu explained, devices with lower resolution displays scored higher. In the case of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, both have the same internals but the former uses a Full HD+ display as opposed to the Quad HD+ display of the Mate 20 Pro.

Rounding up the top five includes Xiaomi’s recently-announced Blackshark Helo and its predecessor. In the new list, the ROG Phone is now in 8th place, while the OnePlus 6 is in the 7th place.

As for our actual tests, the Mate 20 Pro does have a better AnTuTu score than the ROG phone when Performance mode is enabled. As we explained in our review of the Mate 20 Pro, Huawei added a toggle to give it some boost as a response to the controversy involving Huawei’s Benchmark scores.
