Old dog, new tricks
With the incoming launch of the Huawei P20 series in a few weeks’ time, that makes the two-year-old P9 and P9 Plus dated already. Yet for those using those phones, there’s a bit of good news for them: According to reports, Huawei is working on an Android Oreo update for the P9 and P9 Plus.
This will be the P9 and P9 Plus’ second major Android update, making them highly unlikely to receive Android P in the future unless Huawei changes their mind.
Aside from Android Oreo, the P9 and P9 Plus are slated to receive EMUI 8.0 as well, which will give both two-year-old flagships a couple of new features. There’s no definite timeline when the update will roll out, but it is definite that they will receive it within the year.
Both the P9 and P9 Plus last received Android Nougat-its first major update-in March 2017.
