Huawei’s jumping on the octa-core bandwagon

Huawei’s yet to be released octa-core processor just made an appearance at AnTuTu’s benchmark results page after someone in the company ran the ubiquitous benchmarking app on a device equipped with it. According to the results, Huawei’s latest solution may just be what the company needs to compete in the high-end, as it managed to beat Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor in AnTuTu, posting 37363 points as opposed to the 36496 points of the 801.

It’s not clear in which handset Huawei’s newest processor will go into, but rumors suggest that it would probably be slipped in the company’s upcoming Ascend D3, which is rumored to have an octa-core processor. The device that ran the benchmark listed above seem to have all the hallmarks of a flagship smartphone – full HD resolution, 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. We’re pretty sure that Huawei’s solution isn’t going to be along the same lines as MediaTek’s octa-core processor price-wise, but it’s always nice to see more companies pumping out octa-core processors – who knows, this might be a nice alternative to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors for high-end devices.
