Crushing the Competition: Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review

Crushing the Competition: Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review

Review Verdict: Infinix finally has a truly premium device with the NOTE 50 Pro+. It ticks all the things we want on a 2025 midrange phone and exceeds them with its flagship-like build, use of UFS 4.0 storage, and—for the first time on an Infinix phone—a periscope camera.

Pros

  • The best build in its class
  • Decent telephoto camera performance
  • Speedy UFS 4.0 storage

Cons

  • Battery life could be better
  • Only 256GB storage
  • A bit on the heavy side

Infinix is coming back strong with the NOTE 50 series: if the NOTE 50 Pro impressed us with its flagship-like build, the brand went all in with the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G, equipping it with all of the features we expect on a midrange phone in 2025–and more. Having used it for a week, we think that this is Infinix’s best phone since the ZERO ULTRA.

Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review Philippines: Design

Coming from the NOTE 50 Pro, you also get the same premium metal frame on the NOTE 50 Pro+, though we found it to be more solid and slightly thicker to accommodate a better set of cameras. Our review unit is in Titanium Grey, and its boxy, tapered sides remind us a lot of the Galaxy S25 Ultra—and that’s impressive since the NOTE 50 Pro+ is a midrange phone and is significantly more affordable.

You also get JBL-tuned stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and an IP64 rating on the NOTE 50 Pro+, though Infinix made tweaks to the buttons—this time, you have the individual volume buttons on the left side. Like the NOTE 50 Pro, you also get the Bio-Active Halo sensor on the back that has RGB lighting and a sensor that measures blood oxygen and heart rate.

Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review Philippines: Display and Speakers

Like the NOTE 50 Pro, you also get the same 6.78-inch 144hz flat AMOLED display on the NOTE 50 Pro+, along with the same thin, symmetrical bezels that make it look more premium than the competition.

Echoing our sentiments with the NOTE 50 Pro, the NOTE 50 Pro+’s display is buttery smooth with its 144hz refresh rate, and its colors can rival the displays of flagship phones. Peak brightness may only be at 1300nits, but we found it enough to use the NOTE 50 Pro+ outdoors.

While peak brightness is the same at 1300nits, the NOTE 50 Pro has a 144hz refresh rate, making it a smoother AMOLED panel when scrolling and browsing the UI. You also get Widevine L1 so that you can take advantage of watching your favorite Netflix videos in Full HD.

The same can be said of the JBL-tuned speakers, which have excellent audio tuning and are better-sounding than the stereo speakers used by its rivals. They are adequately loud with minimal distortion and produce a decent amount of bass and crisp highs.

Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review Philippines: Cameras

Infinix meant serious business with the NOTE 50 Pro+’s cameras. In addition to the 50-megapixel IMX896 main camera and 8-megapixel ultrawide, you also get a 50-megapixel periscope camera with 3x optical zoom. This is the first time Infinix has added a periscope camera to any of its phones, and we’re happy with it.

We’ve used the NOTE 50 Pro+’s main and telephoto cameras to take photos of different Altar of Repose installations during Visita Iglesia and around Intramuros, and we give props to Infinix’s efforts in the camera department.

While we had to adjust exposure in tricky lighting conditions, the telephoto camera delivered great photos at both its native 3x zoom and 6x digital zoom.

We think that exposure can still be improved through future software updates, but otherwise, it is a good showing for Infinix with their first phone having a periscope camera.

As for the ultrawide camera, it’s the usual 8-megapixel sensor that everyone’s familiar with this price point. To Infinix’s credit, the ultrawide shots taken with the NOTE 50 Pro+ look better than their other models that use the same sensor. Our only complaint is that there’s a delay when you switch to the ultrawide camera–and we hope this is addressed through a future software update.

Also making the NOTE 50 Pro+ stand out is that it can shoot 4K60 video on both the main and telephoto camera, which is hard to find on any midrange device. The 32-megapixel selfie camera is not far behind, as it can shoot at 4K30 resolution, making the NOTE 50 Pro+ a solid option for content creation.

Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review Philippines: Internals and Battery Life

Infinix also went all in with the NOTE 50 Pro+’s internals. As a big upgrade over last year’s NOTE 40 Pro+, you get a Dimensity 8350 processor that’s paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0–the latter being a first from Infinix. We wished for a 512GB variant, but 256GB should be fine for most users in the Philippines.

We’ve tried the Dimensity 8350 before, and it is a powerful chip that trumps its rivals that would use a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 3–and can match up against a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in some scenarios. That being said, the NOTE 50 Pro+ is a stellar performer when it comes to gaming: aside from running Call of Duty: Mobile at the highest graphics settings smoothly, it can also run demanding titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves without any issue.

Using the NOTE 50 Pro+ for doing dailies with Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, the phone keeps temperatures stable. It may be slightly warm after a long, hour-long gaming session, but the NOTE 50 Pro+ remains comfortable to hold.

The NOTE 50 Pro+ comes with the same 5200mAh battery found on the NOTE 50 Pro, but with support for 100w wired and 50w wireless charging. While our PCMark battery benchmark was underwhelming at 8 hours and 7 minutes, we were able to comfortably use the NOTE 50 Pro+ for the whole day with enough juice left after a long day. We think that Infinix can improve on it with better optimization through future software updates.

Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ Review Philippines: Wrap-up and Conclusions

The NOTE 50 Pro+ is the most exciting model from Infinix’s NOTE series in a while, as it has several features normally found on flagship phones, like a periscope camera, metal frame, and UFS 4.0 storage. Infinix took a home run with the NOTE 50 Pro+ priced at under Php 20k, making it the new benchmark for upper midrange phones in the Philippines. There’s room for improvement for the NOTE 50 Pro+, and we’re confident that Infinix will make its most premium phone even better through future software updates.
