Infinix ZERO 5G 2023: First in the Philippines with Dimensity 1080

Infinix is closing 2022 with the 2023 version of the ZERO 5G. While it may look similar to its 2022 predecessor, the big changes are with the internals, as the ZERO 5G 2023 is the first phone in the Philippines to rock the Dimensity 1080 processor, which is MediaTek’s latest chip for the mid-range segment.

Being based on the Dimensity 900 that was used on the ZERO 5G 2022, the Dimensity 1080 introduces a number of improvements that make the ZERO 5G 2023 offer better value for money as far as performance is concerned.

Let’s break down why the processor is arguably the biggest upgrade on the ZERO 5G 2023.

Improved performance over the Dimensity 900

One of the key aspects of the Dimensity 900 is its use of a 6nm process that’s proven to be power-efficient while providing decent performance with its two Cortex-A78 performance cores. The Dimensity 1080 improves on that by bumping the clock speed of the performance cores to 2.6Ghz (vs. 2.4Ghz on the Dimensity 900) to deliver better performance.

The bump in CPU clock speed can be felt when running demanding applications like games. The bump in clock speed assures you better overall performance even while running titles like Genshin Impact at high graphics settings with fewer frame drops compared to a phone using a Dimensity 900 processor.

Better image post-processing capabilities

One of the reasons why the Dimensity 1080 is an important upgrade is because its ISP has been optimized to handle 200-megapixel sensors. While the ZERO 5G 2023 only uses a 50-megapixel sensor for the main camera, it will benefit from the updated ISP of the Dimensity 1080.

The camera performance is one of the weaknesses of the original ZERO 5G, and the 2023 version aims to improve on that department (despite losing the telephoto camera) with the new sensor it is using and the additional post-processing muscle provided by the Dimensity 1080.

Incredible price-to-performance

The Zero 5G 2023 is the FIRST phone in the Philippines to use this brand-new mid-range processor from MediaTek, and Infinix does know how to shock the crowd when it comes to pricing.

Having a Php 12k price tag is already impressive for what the Dimensity 1080 is capable of, and Infinix makes the overall package even sweeter by doubling up the UFS 3.1 internal storage to 256GB. That gives you a lot of fast storage for all your games, photos, and videos. If that’s not enticing enough, the ZERO 5G 2023 currently has a promo price of Php 10,999 via Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop for a limited time only.
