iPhone 17 Pro to Support Dual Video Recording

iPhone 17 Pro to Support Dual Video Recording

With all the rumors about the iPhone 17 series so far, Apple might give the Pro models upgrades when it comes to video recording. One rumor is that the iPhone 17 Pro series will be able to do dual video recording, taking footage from both the front and rear cameras. This will bring in new creative options for content creation, though it is not a new feature: Samsung introduced dual video recording since the Galaxy S21 series, and several midrange Android phones also have the same feature.

Considering that recent iPhone Pro models have powerful hardware, it puzzles us why Apple though of adding dual video recording only with the iPhone 17 Pro series—assuming rumors are true.

Another rumor also points to the entire iPhone 17 series to be capable of shooting at 8K resolution. This one’s also puzzling, as the majority of flagship Android phones that used a Snapdragon 865 and newer chips can shoot 8K videos, making Apple 5 years behind. While recent iPhones have a 48-megapixel sensor capable of shooting 8K video, the bottleneck is with the telephoto camera of the Pro models. Apple wants to offer 8K video recording on both the main and telephoto cameras, which might explain why it didn’t appear on the iPhone 16 series.
