The Legion Go S is Cheaper and Powered by Steam OS

The new handhelds keep coming because Lenovo just made their new Legion Go S official.

We’ve had information about their new gaming device for quite a while now, but we’re glad to see it finally get an announcement and, more importantly, there will be a variant that has SteamOS out of the box.

The Legion Go S also features AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Go processor, which will see a slight dip in overall performance compared to the Ryzen Z Extreme-powered Legion Go and the ROG Ally X but with good cause since this is meant to be the more affordable option in Lenovo’s lineup. We are getting double the RAM though with up to 32GB .

This model will also get rid of the detachable controllers but maintain the bigger 8-inch display, which has been the main reason that consumers and some of our friends have chosen this particular device. The LCD display will have a resolution will be at 1920×1200 and 120Hz Refresh Rate plus support for variable refresh rates.

The Legion Go S will also get a slightly bigger battery at 55.5Whr compared to the Legion Go’s 49.2Whr one.

For those of you who might want the Windows version, don’t worry there will be a variant that ships with that as well. You can tell which variant you’re getting since the one with SteamOS will ship in Black and the Windows version is in White.

The price for these devices? Reports show that the top of the line version is going to have a price tag of $729(~Php 43k), which is said to be available some time this month.

But if you’re willing to wait for the version with SteamOS, rumored to be coming in the middle of 2025, that’s going to get a significant bump down in price (and expect a bump down in performance, of course) at $499(~Php 30k).

We’ll report on more details about the Legion Go S–especially when we hear rumblings of its availability locally–and make sure you stay tuned for more CES 2025 news.
