Meet the Marshall Hanwell Hi-Fi Speakers
We first heard about the Marshall Hanwell speakers sometime in September last year. It was announced back then that the product would be only on a limited run and that they will only be manufacturing 10,000 units to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Marshall. We’ve been aching to get our hands on it eversince! Fortunately for us the local distributor of Marshall, Digits Trading, decided to bring a couple of those beautiful speakers over to the Philippines. We now have a review unit here at the Unbox HQ and we wanted to share with you guys our unboxing as well as initial review.
Okay, now on to the unboxing! 😛
Packaging and Hardware Initial Impressions
When the Marshall Hanwell arrived on our doorsteps it had four layers of packaging. First was the outer box which was your usual brown carton. Second was the actual box with the Marshall branding. Third was a layer of foam inside the box. Finally there was some sort of cloth material covering the actual speakers. Here are pics of the unboxing and the stuff we found inside the box. Don’t forget to read the captions!
We got stuck at this point because we had a hard time getting the speaker out of the box, hehe. It was hard because the speakers were very heavy. After checking out the internet we found out that the Hanwell weighs in at 23 lbs., which means that this isn’t made to be portable. Don’t expect to bring this with you when you go out of town. Anyway, after several minutes of trying to pry it out to no avail, we just ripped the carton apart, hehe.
The Hanwell unmistakably resembles the Marshall amplifiers we’ve seen countless of times being used by rocker guitarists on stage. The Hanwell is housed in a wooden cabinet, layered with black vinyl, and the front has fret cloth and the gold Marshall logo. At the top we find the analogue controls which include the audio jack, volume, bass, and treble.
Full Review Coming Soon
We’ve only been using this for a couple of hours but we can definitely say that the sound quality is awesome. The dual long-throw woofers definitely do their jobs in delivering fantastic deep lows, warm mids, and sharp clear highs. The volume on this thing is also ridiculously loud!
Watch out for our full review of the Marshall Hanwell next week. If you can’t wait for it and you want to buy already though just head on over to your favorite Beyond the Box store and get it for Php34,950.
