MediaTek Announces Dimensity 920 and 810 Chips

MediaTek expands its 6nm chip offerings for the mid-range segment with the Dimensity 920 and 810. Both chips bring in dual SIM 5G connectivity, while the Dimensity 810 marks the first 6nm processor under the Dimensity 800 series. Both also support 120hz refresh rates with Full HD+ resolution, making them ideal processors for mid-range 5G phones.

The Dimensity 920 is a more powerful version of the Dimensity 900, with MediaTek claiming up to 9% better gaming performance. It comes with Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.5Ghz, Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0Ghz, a Mali-G68 MC4, and support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It also has support for WiFi 6, along with cameras at up to 108 megapixels, 4K HDR video, and 3DNR+MFNR  noise reduction. New to the Dimensity 920 is support for adaptive refresh rate for optimal battery life.

On the other hand, the Dimensity 810 uses a more modern 6nm process compared to other Dimensity 800 chips, but still uses Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.4Ghz. The Dimensity 810 supports cameras up to 64 megapixels and premium camera features like AI-Color and advanced noise reduction.

MediaTek said that both the Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 will be available in the global market by Q3 2021. realme confirms that they will have a phone using a Dimensity 810 processor soon. Speculated to be the realme 8S, the upcoming mid-range 5G phone is said to have a 6.5-inch display with 90hz refresh rate, a 5000mAh battery with 33w charging, 16-megapixel selfie snapper, and a 64-megapixel main rear camera. The realme 8s is rumored to have 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage, along with virtual RAM expansion.
