What’s New with the Dimensity 9400+?

After it was launched last October, MediaTek is giving an update to its 2025 flagship chip with the Dimensity 9400+. Being a refresh, the main difference with the Dimensity 9400+ from its non-Plus sibling is with the Cortex-X925 prime core, which now runs at 3.73Ghz instead of 3.63Ghz. The other 7 cores remain the same in terms of configuration and clock speeds.

The NPU 890 appears to be the same, but MediaTek claims 20% better AI performance with Speculative Decoding+ (SpD+), and the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) makes it easy for developers to turn traditional AI applications into sophisticated agentic AI applications.

The GPU is still the same Immortailis-G925 with 12 cores, and MediaTek claims that it can bring PC-level features to phones. The Imagiq 1090, on the other hand, enables HDR video recording across the entire zoom range, allowing users to capture the perfect shot from long distances.

Other notable features of the Dimensity 9400+ include phone-to-phone direct Bluetooth connections as far as 10km, support for BeiDou satellite connection, WiFi 7 tri-band with MediaTek’s Xtra Range 3.0 for 30m greater WiFi coverage, and 5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active, Dual Data capabilities.

Aside from the OPPO Find X8s series, the vivo X200s series will be using the new Dimensity chip as well.
