MediaTek Reportedly Working on a Mid-Range 5G SoC

It will reportedly use Cortex-A76 cores

After announcing their first 5G SoC at Computex 2019, MediaTek is working on a more affordable version according to a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station. While the rumored mid-range 5G SoC will utilize MediaTek’s Helio M70 modem and will be manufactured using a 7nm process, the processor will use Cortex-A76 cores.

The said mid-range chip will support both Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) networks and will be used on sub-CNY2000(~Php 14.3k) smartphones.

MediaTek’s mid-range 5G chip is slated to compete against Qualcomm’s rumored Snapdragon 735 and Samsung’s recently-unveiled Exynos 980 5G for the 5G race next year.
