MediaTek is looking to conquer the low-cost wearable device segment!

Much like how they managed to conquer the low-cost Android smartphone segment, MediaTek is now eyeing another market to conquer: wearables. The Taiwanese chipmaker has recently launched their Aster MT2502 SoC aimed at making affordable, long lasting wearable devices. How long lasting? Well, according to MediaTek, the SoC will be able to last around 4 days on a single charge, which makes it one of the most energy efficient wearable SoCs in the market. Then again, this particular SoC hasn’t shown up in any product as of yet so their claims can’t be substantiated (yet), but we’re definitely looking forward to the products that this new SoC will bring. Hopefully this development brings in affordable (and not useless) wearables that are priced below 5K.
