Meet the Eye: An iPhone Case That’s Also an Android Device

Enjoy iOS and Android without the Hassle of Bringing Two Phones

The iPhone or an Android flagship? While some may prefer the simplicity of the iPhone, others may gravitate towards the flexibility of having a device powered by Android. If you happen to be blessed with an abundant bank account and healthy cash flow, you may opt to buy both devices but carrying two phones can be a bit of a hassle; we know #firstworldproblems, right? The video you see above is a prototype for an iPhone case called the Eye. Essentially, the Eye is an iPhone case that doubles up as an Android device.

Here’s the hardware you’ll find on The Eye.

The Eye Specifications

  • 2.3GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU
  • 5-inch AMOLED display
  • microSD expansion slots (up to 256GB)
  • Dual SIM slots
  • NFC, Infrared
  • 2800mAh battery; with Wireless Charging
  • Android 7.0 Nougat

RAM hasn’t been specified and we’re not sure if it piggy backs off the iPhone in that regards. The Eye may sound like a standalone device, but will share some of the hardware from the iPhone, such as: the camera, microphone, and its speakers.

Aside from its size — there’s one for the iPhone 7 and another for the iPhone 7 Plus — the Eye has two variants, one with mobile connectivity and one without; though you can connect using the iPhone its piggybacking from anyway. The Eye is currently open to crowdfunding but it has already hit, and exceeded, its target of $95,000. As for its price, the Eye certainly doesn’t come cheap.

The Eye will retail for $189 or Php 9,500 for the “basic” model and $229 of Php 11,510 for the 4G variant.
