Microsoft Announces Surface Duo 2 with Snapdragon 888

Despite the first Surface Duo receiving a lackluster reception last year, Microsoft still pushes for its dual-screened Android device with the announcement of the Surface Duo 2.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Specs:

  • Snapdragon 888 processor
  • 8GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • Dual 5.8-inch AMOLED displays, 1892×1344 resolution, 90hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus
  • 12-megapixel f/1.7 main camera with OIS, 16-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera OIS and 2x optical zoom
  • 4G, LTE, 5G
  • WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS
  • 4449mAh battery
  • 23w fast charging
  • Android 11

The Surface Duo 2 gets a bigger set of OLED displays at 5.8-inches, along with a smoother 90hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus. Combining both screens form an 8.3-inch display. Both screens are slightly curved in the inner edge, with the curves visible on the outside to show notifications, saving you the need to open the device.

The Surface Duo 2 gets a performance bump with a Snapdragon 888 processor that is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage. It now gets a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 12-megapixel main camera, 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and 12-megapixel 2x telephoto camera.

New to the Surface Duo 2 is support for Microsoft’s Surface Slim Pen 2, which attaches to the Surface Duo 2 magnetically to charge. Keeping the lights on is a bigger 4449mAh battery with 23w wired charging–though it does not come with a charger out of the box.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Price

The Surface Duo 2 starts at $1500(~Php 75.5k) for the model with 128GB internal storage, which makes it more expensive than the original Surface Duo by $100.
