Motorola Frontier to Feature 200-Megapixel Camera

Motorola Frontier to Feature 200-Megapixel Camera

While Motorola got bragging rights for announcing the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone with the Edge X30, it is not considered to be Motorola’s true flagship phone. That might happen later in the year with the Motorola Frontier, which was revealed by WinFuture.

Renders of the phone reveal a very large camera lens that allegedly houses a 200-megapixel camera–specifically the ISOCELL HP1. This corroborates with reports about Motorola’s plans for 2022.

WinFuture also reveals that the Motorola Frontier will use a Plus variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, carrying the code name SM8475. It will come with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.

While its display is roughly the same size as the Edge X30, the Frontier will have a curved OLED panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Like the Edge X30, you get a Full HD+ resolution and a 144hz refresh rate, along with support for HDR10+. The punch-hole will have a 60-megapixel selfie snapper–the highest resolution so far.

Accompanying that ginormous 200-megapixel main camera are a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, so expect the camera module to be sizeable.

As Motorola’s true flagship, the Frontier will have 125 wired charging and 50w wireless charging for its 4500mAh battery, along with an under-display fingerprint scanner. The phone is said to be marketed as “Frontier 22” in Europe, though that might change for other regions.
