Capable of 2.3GbPS speeds
Aside from Unveiling the new MediaPad M5 tablets and MateBook X Pro laptop, Huawei also unveiled the first commercial 5G modem at their presscon in Barcelona, Spain a day before MWC 2018 officially opens.
The modem, carrying the model name Balong 5G01, is an in-house developed chip that supports 5G standards. The chip is capable of supporting speeds of up to 2.3 GbPS, along with support for all bands including sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies. making it a versatile modem.
Huawei has been developing 5G modem chips since last year, and it expects the first rollout of 5G networks by this year.
