For several years, MediaTek has been offering the Dimensity 700 (and variations like the Dimensity 720 and 810) as its main offering for entry-level 5G devices. The Dimensity 700 is close to 3 years old already and is due for a replacement. MediaTek’s answer? A surprise release of the Dimensity 6020, which makes its debut on the iQOO Z7i and is said to be arriving on a realme device.
MediaTek has yet to include the Dimensity 6020 in its current lineup on its website, but realme revealed some details about the new entry-level chip. It is said to be made on a 6nm process and has support for 108-megapixel cameras, along with having MediaTek’s AI tricks that help enable features like object recognition and intelligent zoom.
Not much is known about the Dimensity 6020, but based on a Google Play Console listing, it should be close to the Dimensity 700 save for a more modern manufacturing process. This means that the Dimensity 6020 adopts a 2/6 structure, where you have 2 Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.2Ghz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores running at 2Ghz. The GPU should be a Mali-G57, but we will not be surprised if the Dimensity 6020 will have a better one on board.
Again, there’s not much known about this new entry-level 5G processor, but we expect MediaTek to divulge more details in the coming days.
