It’s official: Samsung is giving its next Galaxy Unpacked event an interesting twist, as it finally confirms that it will be held in late July 2023 at Seoul, South Korea, confirming previous reports. To be specific, the next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, an intersection where Teheran-ro, a hub for innovative domestic startups, and Bongeunsa, a millennial Buddhist temple, converge.
“Hosting Unpacked in Seoul holds great significance both as it is a city that has become an emerging epicenter of innovation and culture as well as the foldable category,” Samsung Electronics President and Head of Mobile Experience TM Roh said in a press statement. “The foldable category embodies Samsung’s philosophy of delivering breakthrough innovation that pushes boundaries to reshape the future of mobile experiences.”
The decision to hold the next Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul is meaningful for Samsung: aside from the Korean market having an impressive 13.6% adoption rate for foldable devices, Seoul by itself has undergone a massive transformation in a span of 50 years, emerging as a hub for both culture and technology innovation.
The next Galaxy Unpacked is expected to debut the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, and it might also include the Tab S9 series and Watch6 series for the event. According to the latest rumors, the Z Fold5 will look similar to the Z Fold4, while the Z Flip5 will get a significantly larger cover display.
