Nokia 7 Plus Getting Android Pie Update This September

It’ll be the second non-Google smartphone to get the update after the Essential Phone

If you’ve been looking for yet another reason to pick up the Android One-powered Nokia 7 Plus in the next few weeks, we have some good news for you. Aside from officially announcing the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus yesterday, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas said that their Nokia 7 Plus would be getting the newest version of Google’s mobile OS next month.

Sarvikas didn’t specify when exactly the update would drop next month, but we’re confident that Nokia 7 Plus users won’t have to wait long since HMD Global has managed to keep their promise of updating earlier devices from Android Nougat to Oreo.

The Nokia 7 Plus, like its other siblings, is part of Google’s Android One program, which means it’s guaranteed to get 2 year’s worth of Android OS updates and up to three years of security patches. It’ll be the second non-Google smartphone to get Android Pie next to the Essential Phone.
