Nokia Phones Get First Dibs On Android Pie

It is HMD Global’s biggest strength for its portfolio of smartphones

While adaptation to Android Pie has been quite slow, HMD Global is one of the few brands that stay true to their promise of speedy updates. After officially rolling out Android Pie to the Nokia 7 Plus, it is the Nokia 6.1 Plus‘ turn to receive their slice of pie.

We wrote an article about this a few days back, and we have been using Android Pie Beta on our Nokia 6.1 Plus review unit. While Digital Wellbeing is not yet available on the current beta build (you’ll have to install it manually; here’s how), Android Pie on the Nokia 6.1 is a pleasurable experience. We noticed that animations are smoother and that power efficiency is better thanks to Adaptive Battery.

In the few days we used the Android Pie beta build, the generally smooth experience shows that HMD Global is dead serious when they give a timeline for update rollouts. HMD Global is set to roll out the official build for the Nokia 6.1 Plus by October, and given the performance of the current beta build, HMD Global will be able to fulfill their promise, just like their timeline for the Nokia 7 Plus Android Pie update.
